Trump was a Democrat for almost a decade. Many of his policies are right out of the Democrat playbook. He loves tariffs and other forms of market interference. He has no problem advocating for state ownership of private businesses. He and Mamdani seem to be good buddies now despite all of the campaign rhetoric.

He has done some good things such as quickly stopping illegal border crossings and extending tax cuts, but his economic policies are fairly indistinguishable from historic Democrat policies. Both he and the Democrats wage war on “prices” for example whether it be pharmaceutical prices or rent prices. There is even a bipartisan bill to cap credit card interest rates. Their war on prices is really a war on common sense and the free market.

My point is that there is plenty for Democrats to like about Trump (a long time Democrat himself), based on his policies, but they seem to prefer irrational hatred over any semblance of unity.
