This is getting pretty bad, folks. I feel sorry for old NYC ... it was once a great place. But, the Bull & Bear Restaurant/Lounge at the Waldorf is gone, JoJo is not the same, Macys has become K-Martish, Tiffany is now making high-priced Zale/Kay-ish-looking trinket junk, the streets are dangerous, night life has vanished ... so, what's the point in going there any more? Really.
I'm also sorry for the loss of Chicago. The "Miracle Mile" was always fun. Evanston is a better alternative ... maybe sneak into North Michigan Avenue early in the day to shop before the criminals roll out of bed and arm up.
Frisco was never that appealing. Small upscale downtown now ruined by riff-raff. Mocha and Gaylords gone. Napa and Sonoma still great. Santa Cruz, Carmel & San Diego/La Jolla were good last time I was there.
Northern burbs of Detroit were fun a couple of decades ago, but Fox & Hounds, Big Buck, Meriwether's and Machus Red Fox are gone, and Lelli's is just not enough to get me back there.
LA is a great city waiting to be cleaned up and repurposed. Lots to offer there. Same for Philly.
