Mixed feelings.

On one hand, Maduro has been a tyrant, guilty of brutally repressing opposition and preventing democratic rule in Venezuela. There is no serious argument that the Venezuelan people would be better off with him remaining in power. On the other hand, this may well have been a criminal act on the part of the US, a violation of international law. It will almost certainly result in further deterioration of US standing (and thus soft power) in the international community, possibly even resulting in economic sanctions. It is a violation, at the very least in spirit, of the War Powers Resolution...but it's not like that's anything unusual. Reagan, Clinton, Obama, Trump (2020)... The whole point (assuming, I think not unreasonably, that they don't actually give a single, solitary f*ck about the Venezuelan people) is to install a new leader that's friendly to the US petroleum industry. That's probably María Corina Machado (who I rather suspect Trump resents, as she won that Nobel Peace Prize he so greatly covets...lol) but we should know soon.
