I went there as an undergrad, too...but because my end goal was always in Philosophy and I really wanted to live in NYC for a while at that stage of my life, I vacillated between Colombia and NYU. The former has a superb department and of course all that Ivy reputation/baggage...but NYU's department was/is a bit more cutting edge.
