Par for the course for a malignant narcissist, though. Their brains don't work that way.

With Trump, it's not the sociopathy that snuffs out his social awareness (trust me when I say sociopaths are usually acutely aware of social norms...it's a survival necessity). He knows perfectly well that his statements violate those norms. It's just that narcissists don't care. He can't care. It's only when the violations of social norms are such that they contain criticisms of the narcissist that they become "important." Then, of course, a vicious diatribe against the criticizing party inevitably ensues (a pattern we've seen repeated ad nauseam with Trump). Moreover, when the malignant narcissist is the central figure of a personality cult, the cult figures' followers also engage in similarly vicious attacks on the cult figure's critics. On this board alone, examples are legion.
