Turner and I were in McCallie School in Chattanooga TN at the same time. We actually knew each other. Close friends? Not really. He was a boarding student and I was a day student. He was not a billionaire at the time ... nowhere near.
His father died and he inherited one TV station in Savannah GA which was worth about $100K at the time. He was offered $50K for the station by a group of wolves and he told them he would give them $50K to stay the hell out of his life.
He went to Brown University (an "Ivy") and was expelled for having a female in his dorm room. He later founded CNN, then TNT and several other networks. They then sucked up to him and gave him an honorary degree once they began milking him for money.
The first thing that made the public take notice of him was winning the 25th America's Cup in 1977.
He founded CNN in 1980.
He donated $25 million to McCallie School in 1994, which was a noble deed and provided many scholarships (probably still does if invested properly).
Later on, he became more eccentric. Went thru 3 marriages and divorces, the last one being Hanoi Jane Fonda, an equally eccentric wonder, which ended in 2001.
I do not understand giving the UN $1 Billion ... what a waste when there is so much he could have done domestically.
So, "colleague", same school, same time, close-knit group of privileged scholars.
Furthermore, my educational background is second to none. I also taught at a top-rated university for 13 years and was CIO of a $15 billion privately-held company. I own a bi-centennial farm that has been under continuous production for 240 years, and I run a company with Fortune 500/1000 clients.
There, you have it ... end of story.
Now, fuck off, pest.
