Secondary markets will develop based on forced pricing and mandated discounts further eroding supply. Since the government dictates the price, there are no valuable market signals sent and therefore no way of avoiding shortages. Food and other products aren’t produced by grocery stores. Most are produced by farmers who need market signals to guide their decision making.
