@JulianEpstein
I'm a Democrat, I've been with all my life, I have worked as the chief Counsel and Staff Director of two different congressional committees for the Democrats, regularly appear on television, and have voted for every Democratic nominee since I was in college.
That all said, I agree with every single one of Bill's criticisms of the modern Democratic Party which has gone mind-boggling far left -- not because it's helping people, but because it serves the self interest of party elites and consultants who are mostly interested in their own self exaltation and careerism. It's a sort of March of Dimes mentality that believes you have to keep pandering by increasing the welfare state, and acquiescing to the extremist post modern victimology ideologies when there is more equal opportunity in this country today than any country in history has ever offered (although we are certainly not perfect).
If the party doesn't correct itself, you will see more people following Bill. In fact, almost every single demographic -- black and Hispanic, working class etc, are leaving the Democratic Party. For the first time more Americans are inclined to identify with the Republicans than the Democrats. This is because the party refuses to go back to the common sense center where most voters reside and instead caters to far left ideologies of donors and activists which, according to every single poll, are highly unpopular with American people.
