My great-great-grandfather was born on the plantation, but it was lost with the war when he was seventeen. However, he eventually moved to Texas in 1880 with his wife, founded a farm, and gave land for the first school in the town.

My youngest sister does the research on the family. There is a large gap from the first ancestor arriving in Virginia in 1645, likely escaping the English Civil War. It is difficult to tell which branches are in-between him and my great-great-great grandfather,because certain names were popular for children in all branches. It gets easier for the later ones. Few records to be found.

Not a problem for me, as I was never very curious about it. Now a picture of my great-great-great grandfather looks very similar to me and he is the only one that seems to have lived longer than I have.

Not certain that I would want to live to 89.
