Attempts to do so are almost certain to be immediately deflected by way of personal attack, a barrage of "what about Biden," and/or poisoning-the-well fallacies. It's a waste of time.

Then again, I suppose one might as well do as one wishes, abandoning any sense of what might bolster a rational, adult community. I suspect that given the state of things here (and Ken's comments a few weeks back), this forum's not going to be around all that much longer.

The board is overrun by intellectually-challenged midgets like Lucky, Otto, KR and CHE.

In their desperation for attention, they throw out conflict-trolling scraps with little-to-no caloric content.

Thus, intelligent contributions by learned scholars are inadvised, as they are unappreciated and subjected to ignorant scorn by the dregs of academia and personal accomplishment.

It's value as light humor and entertainment has also come and gone. Time to pull the plug.

Unfortunately, they have also invaded R&E.

There are equally-egregious offenders on the other side.

But that's really neither here nor there, is it? Such is the nature of political "discussion" (to use the term loosely), 'net-wide. It takes both registration and a lot of hard moderation work to keep forums devoted to far less contentious subjects from descending into a long series of juvenile tantrums and flame wars. This forum started well and did better than most before its inevitable descent. As you say, time to pull the plug.

Cool subatomic physics posts, though. I'll respond over on R&E when I have a bit more time. The subject matter is something of a (layperson's) hobby of mine.

Is he, though? I understand why he doesn't always monitor the board closely: it's a pigpen so it would take a lot of time...which isn't rewarded either monetarily (I doubt there's a lot of ad income from a low-traffic forum) or by much in the way of user appreciation. Do you consider the moderation to be biased?
