The mainstream Democratic Party does not support socialism. Instead, the party platform champions a form of progressive capitalism that uses government regulation, robust social safety nets, and taxation to address wealth inequality.

However, the party does include an active faction of self-described democratic socialists who advocate for more fundamental economic reforms.

At the national level, prominent Democratic leaders and the official party platform focus on strengthening existing capitalist institutions, such as protecting the social safety net, raising the minimum wage, and implementing universal healthcare or college tuition programs. These policy ideas are aligned with modern social democracy and the welfare state, rather than state ownership or the abolition of capitalism.

Within the broader party, a growing and vocal faction of politicians, including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, identify as democratic socialists. These figures have moved the party's Overton window, particularly among younger voters, but their influence remains a distinct ideological wing rather than the consensus of the overall.

For example, polling trends indicate that while a majority of voters who identify as Democrats view the term "socialism" favorably—often equating it with fairness and expanded public services—the official party machinery and its central leadership remain rooted in capitalist principles

Only the truly ignorant would oppose any of these ideas.

Did you know that 70% of adults receiving aid HAVE JOBS? This group is the "working poor"

Has yet to beat the record set by FDR n Corporate
Wealth in America by the turn of the century.

It is hardly ever good for hatred to replace
working for the common wealth, no matter
how ‘Right’ it may seem at the time…

Very often, that is how Dams and Towns and
some highways come into existence. People
can move easily, find some place to live, and
some employment to earn a wage; and settle
in and feel safe and secure.

That being said, too large a government is
overly expensive and usually quite wasteful,
in a redundant sort of way… and, for some
reason, corruption usually has very little
difficulty creeping in.
