The B is the one kept in stock form as my wife enjoys that one above any of the others; roomy, softer, not at all shouty.
One thing it really needed for her needs, however, was heat. The coil was rotted out, the fan didn't work, needed the whole system torn out and rebuilt. So, an acquaintance who rebuilds heater boxes over the summer to sell to the restorers had one that he offered me, the the job was taken on.
If you've never pulled and replaced a heater in a B, its a famously ugly job. This one did not fail to live up to its reputation, not at all enhanced by the poor fit of the current crop of seals imported from China (your only option).
So, an hour at a time we plug away at the task, pull the old box, metering valve, hoses, unhook the choke-cable controls, everything out from engine block to radiator. Then, fit it all back in new or renewed. Needless to say, access isn't exactly luxurious, not like a saloon or something.
All done last Friday, actualky, but the electrics needed work, too; the switch fell apart into a shower of bits rather than wake up. New switch in hand this morning, finished all the electrics, banished the gremlins, put all the beauty-panels back in place, topped up the coolant, and lit it off.
Last week's rain washed the roads pretty well, so out for an hour's test-run in shirtsleeves. No leaks, all the controls work, and plenty of warmth. Herself will be very cosy, I can assure you, which means the money for some suspension mods on the Spit will be easier to excuse. Grin!
It takes me a bit to do these things, lots of breaks to schedule, set a timer, that sort of thing. But, success is a push-back against arthritis, spinal injury, neuropathy, age. Very satisfying.
My cardiologist would not be best pleased. GRIN!
