Speaking for myself I have no problem lending an ear to either of you gentlemen.
Good to hear about the knee op Mike and my understanding about the one knee at a time thing is that they want to see if the op is a success with just the one, much like cataracts, and if so do the other once the first ones healed or at last on its way.
As for the Forth? It's on a ZX81 but here's the thing. The Forth I'm using is a Forth 79 re-creation recently authored by, now that you mention one, a Brazilian lad called Kelly Abrantes Murta. I have spent the last few months at his request beta testing it for him, bug finding etc.
Some of its features, floating point maths/double number operators etc, have been lifted from the Spectrums version of Forth 83 with permission granted by that Forth's author.
The problem I'm having is that what looks logical structure wise to my way of thinking is continually going tits up and I cannot fathom whether I or the logic is flawed.
What compounds my misery is that Forth just like Hebrew works from right to left logically when read and operated on (Polish or postfix notation) and the sequence of events sometimes turn out to be different to one's expectations.
Too many AM sessions as I've already said so an e-mail to Brazil is needed I think in short order!
The link to Leo Brodies book is most welcome Mike and thanks for that but there is a caveat with his work.
The short story is that the original book was fortuitously enough written for Forth 79 but when approached at the dawn of internet publishing by interested parties to reproduce the work on line, he consented on condition that work be re-written to modern ANS Forth standards which means as a Forth 79 primer it's now a tad defunct.
Forth sadly has, just like BASIC, many different dialects with much incompatibility inherent amongst them.
Still Press on!
PS What's "RUTTERS?"
