I don't like the American term 'biker' BTW I always considered myself more of a 'rocker'. In my day it wasn't necessarily a perjorative term, okay so it wasn't necessarily a compliment either, it all depended on how you defined yourself.
The mods were never a problem as far as I was confined, you rode whatever you could get your hands on and frankly I liked the LD Lambretta but never rode a Vespa I liked.
Lambrettas were strongly built and could handle rough roads, they were much the better scooter for mechanical reliability, almost motorcycles with full coverage fairings.
So whats all this about? Well if I cannot afford to get my legs fixed nd I move back down to Virginia I'm gonna look for another bike with a sidecar frame but no body. That way I can wheel chair onto a fixed platform on the frame, dismount and sling my arse into the saddle and Robert is your father's brother!
Also if its a proper bike I should be able to keep her in tune without too much trouble. Gives me a reason to live.
