I'm in a bit of a bad mood concerning my medical centre and it's inane practices.
The short story, had my 3 monthly diabetes blood test waited a week and called the surgery for results.
I should explain at this point that they have a dedicated line for results, appointments etc so pressed button b for results.
It. " Ah yes the liver function ok but you need to speak to nurse concerning diabetic score. "
Me. " yes I half expected that so not worried, indecently what was my score this time? "
It. " Not allowed to tell you as I'm not medically trained and you need to speak to some one who is."
Me. " But you are the results line and as far as I'm aware your existence is to relieve the doctors/nurse of this burden and I should only bother the doctor/nurse if things are not ok, yet you cannot tell me my results in any meaningful way which means I may have well as made an appointment for a grown up who can speak to me in the first place."
It. " No you have to speak to us regarding your results not a doctor. "
Me. " yes but you cannot tell me anything of any import what some ever so what's the point of you?"
It. " To give patients their results............
As you might guess this round robin ended up exactly that and yes I get the not medically trained bit but why set up a dedicated dept that can only say "Have a nice day" or "Call doctor now!" when in the end you have to call said medic for to discuss results one way or the other.
My previous score was 42 which is close to border line and all she had to do was to say is that it's 45 for example. Surely no medical training is required to impart that small nugget which is on a screen in front of her. I'm only asking for a number not a detailed discussion on the intricacies of spinal surgery.
The upshot is I now have to wait another week to speak to a practice nurse which as explained I'm not allowed to in the first instance,to find out what the hells wrong.
Sorry chaps rant over we all have our own problems at the moment I know, it's just the stupidity of it that gets to me.
