40 (some), 41, 42, 43, 45, 46 (only one, but one well-worthy of inclusion), 50, and 52, and that doesn't include the early stuff.
Certainly, these were top-link classes but even that adheres to tradition, as the work-a-day 0-6-0 in steam days laboured on under a number only (except the odd ex-NB ones that survived the Great War having been impressed by the ROD). Even the famous mixed traffic engines of the steam days often did not carry names, the V2 and the Black Fives come to mind.
It looks to me that convention continued with the passenger diesels vs. mixed traffic and goods at least to a very noticeable degree.
And who would name a loco "Fred"? Why, only some very discerning railway would wisely do so, and an 08 to boot!
