Fred I'm glad you are of the same frame of mind as Sarge and I hope your fender bender doesn't cost you money and am greatly relieved that your wife is unhurt.
Fred I appreciate your advice about Tramadol and I did research it as well as mention my concerns to the doc.
I was more concerned about the Meloxicam that the hospital sent me home with, so much so that I only took it when the pain was really severe.
To my surprise the doc said he'd rather I used the meloxicam and saved the Tramadol for the bad days.
The important thing is that meloxicam can only be taken once a day so I'd have to wait till noon whereas the tramadol can be taken 3 times a day every 8 hours along with the 8 hour Tylenol.
The tramadol has so far proved very effective - I'm waiting for my fresh supply of meloxicam when Tammy goes to the pharmacy.
The pain relief has been tremendous and I can walk again without feeling quite so awful at each step! Its not painless but more bearable.
The doc says the main priority is to get me able to walk downstairs and presumably up again (!) because I cant get the knee surgery until I see an osteopath and none of them do house calls.
He says my blood work shows I'm in excellent health, my kidney and liver functions are good, my thyroid levels are good and altho my PSA level is high he says it really doesnt matter because even if I did have prostate cancer its so slow to develop that I'd be dead of old age before it became a concern.
Oh and my BP tested 120 over 70 and oxygen 98% so perhaps I can take these meds at least in the sort term.
