1) Looks like summer has moved in with a flourish.
Last year still saw cold days at the end of May. This photo was dated 29May of last year, unusual but there it was.
This year we have 90 degrees F and:
The roses are blooming, most of the Spring blossoms are well and truly gone; dogwood, azalea, lilac, &c. The morning glory vines are well started and the farmers are already bringing in the first cut of hay.
2) It seems like, once one becomes of age to be called a pensioner and is awarded his bus-pass, everything physically takes a shit all at once. Went to have a new script for eyeglasses done, and got referred to higher authority for an elevated eyeball pressure which could be the harbinger of glaucoma or other evil. Also have the early iterations of cataracts to mind. Sheesh! It just comes all at once.
3) On a related note, I'm looking forward to the new specs, though. I can't stare at the tablet for more than a half-hour or so without the distance vision getting all blurred until the eyes relax again from trying to focus on this dam thing.
4) The case for scale modelling. In a follow on to our previous discussion, I offer the notion that too many cheat themselves by thinking in terms of either-or when it comes to toy-trains vs scale modelling. Like many things people divide themselves into camps over, one can enjoy both for what they are.
I submit one is a moving snapshot of history...
...while the other is "history" onto itself.
I like both, and feel no need to "choose". They really are not even related in spite of the rabid efforts of the insecure to justify their love for the nostalgia offered by the toys of their childhood in terms of "modelling" as an acceptable adult hobby.
Since when does nostalgia have to be justified?
