I'll couch that in saying his Pacifics aren't my preference compared to Gresley's, but the Black Five is his top entry on my list. I very much like them, a nicely balanced and proportioned machine that turned in a stellar performance in their lifetimes.
Likewise, on the other side of this fence, I also am a singer of the praises of Gresley's V2, a compact and nicely proportioned locomotive that likewise turned in a performance to be highly appreciated.
Both get a little love, but not nearly what they deserve. I dearly love a Streak but I think I give the nod to the V2 (and the Stanier Pacifics are more than nosed out by the Black Five) in my twisted little mind.
It warn't just Pacifics!
