I've always been very much interested in the various aspects of the space exploration efforts and my only disappointment is how sparse the info is on how it was actually done.
I wanted to know the nuts and bolts of the various probes. What science instruments were carried and how were they made to work as required.
specifically what really fascinated me was the onboard computers used and how they were programmed such that they can be reprogrammed in flight and even make alterations to the instrument functions to improve them or compensate for errors or malfunctions?
The computers until the late 90's were often less powerful than our 8 bit Sinclairs so how the hell did they do it?
This is the kind of computer use that really interests me. Its what I got my Sinclair for, to start to learn how to solve problems and control devices.
