If someone ten years ago said, "I have a great idea. Lets make a place on the internet where you can join in exchange for your personal information and your privacy", I'd have said, "Oh, please no."
If they had said, "No, it'll be great! Everyone you have ever known will be able to find you again, renew old acquaintance, and reminisce about every detail in your life!", I'd have said, "Oh, hell no!!"
Then, if they said, "And anyone can put out any unvetted thought they might have, or any detail about their daily life no matter how trivial, and everyone else in the world can see it and comment in real time!" I'd say, "Oh, please gawd don't do that!"
Now that evil bastard wants everyone to join a virtual-reality "metaverse" where all human interaction takes place, all commerce, all social intercourse, everything. We abandon reality for that environment. Have you ever seen a film called "Ready Player One"?
Oh no no no.....
