The combination of aggressive treatments (prednisone is bloody dangerous stuff as it is very effective as an anti-inflamatory; so much so one has to consciously resist doing stupid things and injuring yourself again or worse, since the stuff makes the damaged bits feel quite normal) and physical therapy has had an excellent result. Coldpacks, scheduling activity then rest alternating, a wee drap of the heather for medicinal purposes, and both the physical therapist (my good friend who knows paras and compression injuries like no-one else I've encountered) and I are well pleased with what really is very rapid progress.
I might have dodged the bullet this time; time will tell.
