I recall watching motorcycle racing on the old weekly ABC's Wide World of Sports, the same place I got my first taste of Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (albeit, just clips post-race). I especially enjoyed motorcycle/sidecar racing and the races run in Scandinavia on frozen lakes, the ones where the bikes had cleats on the tires that looked like roofing nails. I don't recall if Phil Read participated in any of that, but it was good racing all the same. I still remember those guys in the sidecars leaning out into the turns, their chins just inches from the track surface.
