I recall my kid, a nuclear engineer, trying to explain the vagaries of particle physics to me a decade or so ago. My high school and college physics classwork had proved inadequate in gaining much of an understanding, and lengthy sessions with him did little to round-me-out with anything more than the absolute basics.

I do recall the movie "Event Horizon", a science-fiction/horror film from the late 1990s. It was an interesting twist on the topic of black holes back when their existence was still largely theoretical.

Anyway, keep at it. I find the excerpts interesting and well worth the read.
