Charles notes were not much help when it came to reproducing the casting he must have made from bismuth for his diamagnetic component. His drawings were pretty luridly colored but not one dimension was given or could be deduced from context. This was very important if the models original function was to be reproduced. It was the second day of his small team's frantic efforts to reproduce the conditions of his young sons failed experiment although as they continued to study what material they had it was becoming obvious that failure, as such, was theirs not his.

Ironically the rest of the sentient creatures of the universe would have followed a similar procedure to hide from humanities potential danger to them. Because what humanity had and didn't know it, was the ability to bring things into existence merely by imagining them.

Now of course some will say that this is common to many species especially the more advanced ones like espers and telepaths but they are aware of its dangers and taught to control it. Whereas humanity had no inkling of its hidden mental powers nor even the most rudimentary control over them.

As Arthur suspected, humanities ill advised use of nuclear weapons, amongst other things not the least of which was their appallingly careless indulgence of their imagination, had compelled the Keepers of the Balance to quarantine the solar system unless or until humanity learned to control their excesses or erased themselves from their planet which seemed the most likely outcome.

This was considered to be undesirable because of the timeline that such a catastrophe would rupture and the consequences of which made global nuclear destruction a mild peccadillo by comparison.

Thus the Masters created the Mediation Corps to try and clip the wings of any species that seemed to be courting disaster and Charles attempt at an experimental model of an interstellar drive had triggered the response from its Masters that left the Mediator in a very difficult position.
