Rutabaga and white turnips both are something I don't get as general fare, along with limas or sprouts. I love the lot of them and my Darling Bride cannot abide them. Sweet potato or yam are just disgusting, on the other hand, and "candying" carrots is a crime against God. What I get for marrying a Virginian! Grin!

I will have sprouts at Christmas, though, as a tithe for allowing pumpkin spice anything across the threshold.

Grumping about our cultural divide, I must give Memsahib the greatest credit as she plies me with the occasional bangers and mash; her's the real deal in the time honoured manner of simple pub food from decades ago (Ah, the Low House in Laxfield!) and not the hoity toity Yank college-town versions here.
