The internal mix brushes like the blue Badgers are more artist tools, and the double action brushes even more-so as they handle inks and thin paints easily and allow for gradients on the fly from opaque to translucent, making those wonderfully shaded works of art; can't do that with my Wrens though the effects of weather can be duplicated on models using thinned paints.
There are new brushes specifically intended for modern water-based acrylics. I've never had any luck with the acrylic stuff, but that really comes down to not having the right tools and not being motivated to learn how to handle them. The plastic modellers get great results from them.
