Some might be considered bad and there are generations now that feel the slightest "bad" ones have sent them scurrying for help or recompense. While there certainly are experiences that really do scar a person, most actually temper the mind to the challenges of life in my experience. One cannot expect to live for three-quarters of a century and have it all be sweetness and light. Sorry for that!
Furthermore, if you hide from the possibility of taking a few mental knocks, you'll be hiding from those wonderful experiences as well. Hide from the possibilities of being "hurt" and you excuse yourself from the possibilities of experiencing the world at all. Lucky them they have their phones (he said with a roll of the eyes).
Ah, the good ones, though, they certainly are worth the risk and the effort to acquire! I'd have none of them if I'd chosen to think and live like the recent couple generations, or indeed many Americans of my own generation.
