My name is Stiv Preem and Peter has been a good friend to me, what else can be said of someone that spares you from the lingering death of being left to die in a gibbet cage?
He has left his workshop, notes and drawings in my care for an expected absence of possibly six months but it has now been over a year and I am beginning to be worried about the lack of any contact with him.
So I took it upon myself to attempt to discover either his whereabouts or the nature of his demise by locating his village and making enquiries there. So to enlighten those who may someday read this, I have appended my own observations as follows about the trail I followed.
BROCKS BARN
Is a very small farming community situated 50 miles North East of the Citadel in the bottom of the river Leigh valley which is enclosed by the heavy forests on either side save for the pastures and arable lands either side of the river.
The villagers themselves whilst of pleasant enough demeanour make it perfectly plain that enquiries about any of their number are not welcome at all and further attempts to ignore that warning might very well end unpleasantly. Ignore this at your peril.
My informants were a toymaker who had taken Peter on as apprentice, and a wise woman and her equally adept husband who took it upon themselves to further his education quite considerably. All of these people spoke highly of and were equally concerned about his long absence having no ideas as to where he could have gone.
LEIGH NAVIGATION
However in the past he had been befriended by the bargees, one of whom had once carried him down to the coastal barge pool to escape from possible pursuit sent by the Clockmakers Guild.
OLD TOWN
He was last heard of heading for the Old Town harbour with a parcel to be delivered to a ships captain that had not been seen since but the gossips said that Peter had taken ship with this man who usually followed the coastal trade which can mean anything including smuggling.
SUTHAULD
So I found a ship due to follow the same route north and was eventually landed at Suthauld which despite its name is Brythans most northerly port and a large and thriving one supplying the Kings Road trade.
KINGS HEAD TAVERN
Gets its name from its situation at the head of the Kings Road from which one road runs East to Suthauld. This is a den of iniquity, the home of thieves of every description, a meeting place for postillions to obtain fresh horses for their coaches, a general hang out for thugs and n'er do wells.
Some of these had chased Peter as they thought him likely to be worth robbing or ransoming but he evaded them by running up a chine which ended in a sheer drop that no one could survive.
That is a brief summary of the waypoints of my search but a more detailed description will be appended
