News today, a skydiver who says he experienced an engine-out in his private airplane and bailed out over a wilderness reserve. Turns out he obviously staged it all; had the door open before the engine "quit", never tried a restart or a forced landing, never called mayday, cameras all over the airplane including one aimed at the prop, and no-one flies with a skydiver's para-wing whilst sitting in the pilots seat of a GA aircraft.
Turns out it was a stunt (gee that's a toughie) for "views". The FAA told him it was his responsibility to preserve the wreckage, and they were investigating. He thought he'd cover his arse so told FAA he couldn't find the wreck, then he and a mate snuck out with a helicopter, recovered the wreck, chopped it up, and distributed it out in several skips to dispose of it.
Plead guilty to obstructing a Federal investigation, lost his pilots licence though can re-apply after a year, but that isn't what really fries my arse. I really wish he'd never be allowed near an aircraft again and be sentenced to do time. Hard time. Butt-hurt time.
The real crime? The airplane was a lovely old 1940s Taylorcraft, a pretty and pert little vintage aircraft deliberately destroyed by this excrement heap for his own ego.

Jesus wept.
