Upstairs in the apartment above us lives a lady who Tammy used to regard as a foe in terms of the lady's tendency to complain about everything she attributed to the other tenants one of whom she got evicted. So I had her pegged as a nosey busybody.
However that was applicable ten years ago or more and now this lady turns out to be an interesting person whose standards are those of my mother in terms of correct behaviour and what one does if one encounters the unacceptable!
She's in her eighties, she was a dancer and so her knees gave out like mine and she had knee surgery in June and is still suffering from occasional pain in the knee joint which is a mechanical device so how is that possible?
Brooke, (this lady) and I occasionally pass like ships in the night on the stairs, usually too tired or too much in pain to do more than exchange brief greetings politely but no further conversation than 'Hello".
Tammy has long since buried the hatchet and indeed helps Brooke out by bringing up her mail and any packages as well has keeping her company on occasion, going to lunch or shopping or just talking to her.
Today I spoke at some length to her on Tams phone and we expressed our dissatisfaction with the way the medical services run and particularly how none of ones specialists seem to communicate with each other about how each malady may affect the others.
When all my troubles started I asked my rheumatologist whether it might be possible that my advanced tooth decay might be responsible for my immune systems attack on my bones.
Brooke said her dentist had advised her to have a deep clean before the knee surgery otherwise complications would occur from infection.
I said that I read the Navy's more enlightened captains, like Cook, had refused to accept seaman with bad teeth because they invariably fell ill and often died as the result of their teeth.
The dogs part of my title refers to my disappointment that City dogs are not as friendly
as country dogs. Stands to reason really as the former are inundated with humanity and probably have to learn to ignore any but their
owners.
The 'swabs' was just nautical nonsense
