been busy for a bit, but have found a bit of time to catch up with all your contraflibuations. How is everyone here? Everything 'good' / on an even keel?
I've been a bit busy. Last week was my last at Fidessa Trading, after almost 14 years suffering (and some fun) and now I move on tomorrow onto new role.
It should be interesting as it is working on the bridge navigation software and radar for commercial ships. You can now call me Senior Principle Software Engineer Luny. :))
So I was desperate to hunt down a bug on my latest Spectrum game in order to get it published before I start, as a new position could use up all my coding runtime for a little while.
I managed it, it's now out there. the bug was nasty. It would randomly not erase some of the sprites. Very hard to find when running. In the end I came up with the idea of keeping a copy of the screen before any of the sprites are drawn, then use this to compare the screen every time the sprites were erased. If different, it would jump to a loop and wait, allowing me to hit pause in the debugger. From here I could get it to call the sprite routines and I was able to work out why it missed some sprites. Some times I scare myself. :)) Not bad for someone who didn't get on at school eh? Or so I keep telling myself. :))
