We always speak in American politics about some sort of puppetmasters behind the screens who choose and bless the candidates we get to choose from, but really who would these mysterious people be?
I'm postulating something here:
The distractions of anger, polarity, even politics itself are camouflage. A brown people to blame, a different Abrahamic religion to fear, flags, placards, all distractions. A cabal of paedophile intellectual elites, the deep state, the fascists, the alt-right; smoke and mirrors, all of it.
I said something earlier to the effect that there is a class system in America in spite of the protestations to the contrary, and it looked like the class of power and wealth was shaken by Trump's conviction such that his kind, the financiers, the capitalists, flocked to his aid financially afterwards. They are betting on their brother to win, and to protect their interests, position, and in many cases their anonymity.
You look at the Trump years, the oil drilling and fracking, the import duties imposed, the tax break (that I as a mere plebe saw nothing of but heard plenty about, for example. Is it just me or did that tax break go to his kind only?), strong pro-Israel policy, anti-China, anti-EU, anti-Arab.
Other than chucking the odd child under the bus, the current administration has continued the very same policies whilst blaming them on their predecessor. Release of oil reserves, nary a tariff rolled back, same foreign policy orientations, just so little changed, really. Ah, but the Bidens are of that same class, so serve the same class.
It seems that class is indeed the one who vets and presents their candidates for us to choose between. Pretty blatant this time, for there never even was a serious attempt at the theatre of primary politics in opposition to either of the vetted old men.
Pretty blatant this time as there wasn't even an attempt to hide the fact that the Mellons are the biggest single donor to both Trump and Kennedy at the same time. I would not be surprised if the Mellons had a large investment in Biden as well.
Pretty blatant when our choice is the one no average citizen wanted, two old capitalists protecting their brothers.
I have to wonder if Trump's outrageousness and Biden's alternating cheerful doddering grandpa schtick and blind stubbornness are performances for our consumption just to toss us off the scent of the financiers and back to the posited evil of the "deep state" and the Mexicans.
There is little we can do but put our head down and try to survive the next four and a half years. They will suck, no matter who wins. The sun will not be returning to warm uplifted faces either way. We just have to bear it.
The same is true for the younger hopefuls, the ones who didn't participate in the primaries, the ones told not to interfere on pain of political exile. All taken aside and told to wait this one out, told by the class who are potentially a bit worried that their own (Donald and Hunter) have been at least by fluke and hopefully by accident held to the same legal standards as the hoi-polloi. We'll have to do something about that.
I have no idea what is planned for the next administration by these people. It's the one piece of this puzzle I can't put my hand on. Why so careless and so blatant? Why the one independent (Kennedy) is bought rather than told to butt out like the rest?
Whatever it is, it needs to be pretty solid by the end of this coming administration. At least one of the boyz will be gone; the winner having hit the Constitutional statute of limitations. The other will be ancient if he's still alive. The twelve year opportunity for them and hell for us will be over.
Or will it? We'll all be drained of wallet after being addicted to Amazon, social media, Apple vs Microsoft, artificial interest rates on real estate, rape-level profit on oil, all the while blaming each other, the gays, the Mexicans, Gen-Zed, and the Illinois Nazis.
Kinda smells like that's the plan...
