It is amazing to me how the market for old furniture, especially the darker "brown-furniture" is so completely in the tank. You can find really nice stuff made of real material (rather than the chip-board import-from-gawd-knows-where crap made today) for easy money, stuff that cost dearly in the antique "shoppes" back in the Noughties.
Today, you can furnish a house on the cheap with nice quality furniture that has style and panache, not worry about "value" such that you can't refinish or refurbish to suit, and the dog can pile in on the sofa without causing the Lady of the House to go absolutely ballistic.
