Manx cats as a breed characteristically have double coats; the usual topcoat but with a dense and very fine undercoat, something one would expect given the breed's origins.
The three Manx need that undercoat combed out periodically and those particular combs they find both effective and highly enjoyable.
Hobbes and Lucy have the sleek glossy single-coats typical of what are called DSH here, Domestic Shorthair. Even though they don't need combed, they both are absolutely enamoured of the attention and those combs run through their fur is as intensely pleasurable as it is unnecessary.
Ah, the life of a Dungfield Manor cat! GRIN!
