This one was fun, albeit a bit fiddly simply because of that combination of my neurosis and the timeperiod the kit was made.
One of the harder parts was the striping. They were done at the last minute so the Germans didn't have time to replicate them, which made sense in the run up to D-day. What that meant, though, was the application was with anything to hand from spray-guns to brooms, and most often with brushes. Replicating the imperfections of that last-moment rush without looking merely like a poor modelling paint-job was a bit of a balance I'm not sure I struck.
Still, lots of nostalgia on this one, having built this kit a couple times as a boy, then later on having jumped Dakotas and flown in them any number of times, especially in Africa.
