Like you, Fred, my skillset is as limited as my desire to scrabble in the dirt after a happy carefree life in the infantry. I no longer am in search of "a better 'ole". GRIN!

The Lady of the Manor is the one for whom gardening has an appeal, so I cheerfully built the ironmongery you see in the photo and she cultivates those beds each spring with pretty much anything but the Morning Glory. That returns on its own each year as you see it after I discovered that, if you leave it until after the first frost (defending it long after it looks brown and ugly in her eyes), you are rewarded with thousands of hard black seeds and the return of the stuff in all its splendour the next year.

There is no work or talent involved in "growing it", so suits my skillset perfectly. Once it gets up a full head of steam, it intertwines with the big pots and plantings she put in earlier in the spring, the result is gloriously rich.

Add a nice iron café table and chairs I use when I take a break from working on cars in the workshop, it's a nice place to be with a cuppa and a workshop manual.
