RELIGION is the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods:

First of all, lets get one thing straight, there is not and never has been any such superhuman power or powers. So why does this superstition exist?

Secondly, religion has been responsible for more human persecution, misery, warfare and fraud than any other influence throughout history.

This last category, fraud and those that perpetuate it aren't necessarily the villains of the piece. The real problem lies in those human vulnerabilities without which the whole religious scam could never exist.

Insecurity is chief amonst them because it affects us all to some extent, whether we admit to it or not and its causes are manifest. That is what drives us to look for some way to compensate and amongst those options is to look for a leader or a source of comfort which leaves us vulnerable to be exploited.

Star Trek 5 'The Final Frontier' pretty much sums up the the point I'm trying to make and could be summarised by Kirk's asking the so called God "Why does God need a starship?" At which point the whole deception is revealed but an important aspect of the story is that the Vulcan prophet/seer Syvok really seems to be the genuine article and is apparently proven right both by his ministrations "let me take away your pain" and leading the Enterprise to 'God'.

Televangelists can have a similar influence over their gullible congregations, comprised as they so often are by those requiring something to believe in or at least the comfort of the herd. If that is all their leader provides then so be it, no harm done you may think but theres an insidious component to their teachings that reinforces the congregations vulnerability to ridiculous rumours, canards or hoaxes such as MTGreene's "Jewish space lasers".

I was 7 years old when the Billy Graham Crusade came to England and I was astonished at the large number, some 34,000, who 'converted' as a result. Except that I shouldn't have been because the May 1954 event came only 9 years after the end of the war, rationing was still a factor that showed just how impoverished we still were, (it ended in July 1954,) and thats exactly the sort of conditions that favour the spread of evangelism.

So it should come as no surprise that MAGA has taken advantage of the evangelists having prepared fertile grounds for the seeds of fascism to flourish in the form of Project 2025.
