Except they don't know most got metal wings by Battle of Britain, talking glowingly about the old fabric wings that had been mostly replaced.
The uninitiated narrator and his (AI, perchance?) inability to correctly pronounce a squadron number or German bomber designation is an annoyance, but the wing bit is a huge gaff.
However, the idea of building the better weapon not being the same thing as building the better airplane is something only now some historians are starting to "get".
