After getting the lathe set up to my satisfaction, attention was turned to the milling machine we spoke of in Chapter 1.
A clearing off and a good tidy of the bench was followed by a chip tray and installation of new way-covers.
Next, the fun bit in which the head was torn down and rebuilt, during which the plastic gears that drive the spindle were replaced with a two-speed belt drive. That pretty much has the entire machine rebuilt, now.
This whole workshop reconfigure has been a fun project. I have to score another set of metric spanners and look into a tachometer, yet. I also am keeping my eyes open for a couple more toolholders for the lathe; left- and right-angled 1/4" holders for the old style "lantern" toolpost.
