I admit shuddering when he took a palm sander to the wood, but I'm used to military arms where one is very interested in preserving the stock cartouches that tell a fair story of the history of the individual piece such as armoury acceptance marks, proofs, &c.
Anyone who would spin-cock any weapon does not respect the lethality nor the mechanics. Its pretty violent on the mechanism and not really handling the weapon "in complete control".
A few other niggles but on the whole, and after accepting the notion he wasn't restoring it as an artefact but a "shooter" and it isn't really a historically significant example (and more valuable in original condition than in "restored" condition), it was interesting and pretty fun.
I do love such things.
