The only reason I left that job was that my youngest daughter was in high school and home alone for several hours after school and basically alone in the evenings because my husband packed it in early since he had to get up so early. (He IS a morning person).
K suffered because her older sister was gone to university. They were and still are WICKED CLOSE. I quit the job and took one part time days in the psychiatrists' office so that I could be there for her after school and in the evenings. It really made a difference. She is/was so ADHD, had behavior problems, and felt such a loss with her sister gone all week that she was going to get herself into serious trouble or get hurt from one of her dangerous pranks that J always stopped her from doing. She also had this whacked out boyfriend who was making a mess of her emotionally. I couldn't tell her about him because of HIPPA but I knew just how messed up HE was and wasn't going to let him do that to her because I wasn't there to help her when she needed it. Plus, I hated never seeing her during the week because of my schedule.
As much as I'd loved that job ( in spite of the obvious issues dealing with suicidal and other mentally ill patients), I don't regret quitting for one second. K turned out GREAT and is now an excellent trauma surgeon with a happy, satisfied, and successful life.
Anyway, getting back on the track of the discussion, I prefer the "daylight savings time" because I'm asleep in the morning unless I can't avoid getting up (my puppy now insists that I get up by 9:30ish, which sucks) and I love having it be light until 8 or 9ish pm in the summer. At least 7-8pm in the spring and early fall.
One of my sisters is a morning bird and she gets up at like 4am (like my husband) because she LOVES the early am. Before my puppy, I used to stay up that late, by choice.
So, I get what you're saying, but can't help but prefer the opposite.
