having to do with race, crime, wealth, population density, politics, happiness, etc... even how much is spent on sports in the different regions and countries. I am coming to the conclusion that we are doomed as a species on this planet.

Until people can learn to not be so greedy and competitive, I'm afraid we are on a collision course with destiny. We are little better or smarter than other animals, just waiting for the herds to be culled by Mother Nature.
