Trump Says He's Doubling Steel Tariffs To 50%, But Who Even Knows Anymore?

Trump said Friday he plans to raise tariffs on steel imports into the U.S. from 25% to 50%, but it's impossible to say if the president will stick with his latest decision.

At a rally in Pennsylvania for the U.S. Steel Corporation, Trump announced he would be doubling the tariffs on steel coming into the U.S.

"I said, 'Would you rather have a 40% or a 50%?' They said ‘We’ll take 50!’" Trump told the crowd of steelworkers. "I said, ‘I had a feeling you were gonna say that.’ So congratulations."

It remains unclear if Trump plans to go through with the new number. Trump has routinely thrown around tariff numbers, only to later walk them back.

Who's he talking about? Who's asking for HIGHER tariffs? Why is he playing games with tariffs at all, when he has no Constitutional right to set them? Why are steelworkers not demanding that he stop screwing with their jobs, their livelihoods?
