If there is one thing I have learned from my travels and observations in life… it is that we have to STOP. We have to STOP being so GOD Damn Competitive. Competitive in EV-ER-Y-THING. Who is the best athlete. Who has the best team… best car, house, wife, husband, family, best country, best god, best religion, best scriptures, books, knowledge, the most money or gold, the best armies, weapons, fortress……….. best civilization.

The Greeks and Romans would no doubt tell you that theirs was and perhaps still is the greatest civilization the world has ever known. Of course the Persians, Ottomans, Egyptians, Chinese, Russians, English, Spanish, French, Aztecs, Incans….. and others would no doubt say the same. The Jews, Christians, Muslims and others would also no doubt tell you that THEIR god, scriptures and understanding is better than anyone else’s, also.

There was a place we visited in the Greek isles that made an impression. It was a huge fortress with a Grand Palace in the middle. That’s what the ancients did… they built huge fortresses on high hills, with thick walls and moats and such. Well, this fortress was truly impenetrable. The outside walls were 40 feet thick. Inside those walls were moats… not one moat, but three dry moats, so that if anyone penetrated the outside wall, they would be easy to see and pick off from above. No army ever penetrated that fortress. However… they were not safe. They were outnumbered, and they couldn’t stay within those walls indefinitely. So an army of magnitudes bigger decided to surround the fortress and wait them out. It took many months, but they were finally starved out, and they had to surrender.
