Happy Independence (from king Donald Trump)[/small] Day Our work now is to reclaim the democracy and republic we lost. Make no mistake. With the felon's election we lost it. Comparoing him with any other president is a mistake. You must go all the way back to King George III for that. Enjoy a trip up America's Mountain. I am still surprized to learn how many locals have no idea America the Beautiful was written from the summit of Pikes Peak by Katharine Lee Bates, teaching summer session at Colorado College in 1893. Her friend, department chair Frank Loud took her up the Bear Creek trail to his hotel above Jones Park, the halfway point of a trip up Pikes Peak. The next day they walked to Seven Lakes where they took the carriage road to the summit. I know the exact spot she sat. It overlooks the NE face from just below the summit. There, she began her poem, America the Beautiful. Everything she saw and described, you see from that summit. The amber waves of grain, purple mountain majesty above the fruited plain. Katharine Lee Bates slept here in the loft. Thbe city barely knows this place exists. Record of Bate's day exist at Colorado College, but nobody reads, or pays attention to it. They should because this in the place of America the Beautiful. Not just the summit, but the way up. A few years ago our republican city council made an effort to sell Jones Peak to a developer, to subdivide for houses. The deal fell through because of difficulty of access. I presented this history of the Bates visit, with intent to save Jones Park and identify it as the route of America the Beautiful. The city council could not have been less interested. I may have closed their eyes in apathy and sleepy boredon, but they opened mine to their criminal minded malfeasance. I had several epiphanies about republican criminality over the years, and this was a major one. Their near unanimous vote yesterday proves my point.

One will become two,
two four, and then the GOP panic will set in.
I am launching one against Lauren Boebert.
If there are others, and I believe there will
be, we can join forces.
When I was a young teen, the roof had not collapsed, and we spent the night many times there on winter ascents of Almagre Mountain and Pikes Peak. This is my only photo of the inside from back then. There were two brass beds on the lower level, and a big cast iron stove, and a bed in the loft. They're all gone now.
You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
