Went to the protest at the MO state capital. Fairly peaceful event, mostly to protest the gerrymandering proposed to gain more of a Republican majority in the next election. Had a lot of likes on my "Definition of Insanity: Sucking Up to a Murderous Dictator While Alienating Your Friends, Allies, & Trading Partners..." sign.

Then on the way home, our daughter texted that there had been a shooting at our grandkids' high school. Our grandson was in the cafeteria when it happened, and he ran all the way to a library down the hill from the school. His mom picked him up before the police blocked off the roads. Our granddaughter was in a classroom and was kept in lockdown for a long time before they were transferred to a different location where the parents could pick them up.

Never would have thought this would happen in 'their' school. They had moved to Evergreen thinking it would be a safer place. Not. We live in a sick country. No place is safe. Our daughter has had training for this type of incident. She said no amount of training prepares a person for such a thing when it happens to your family.

Then we hear the news about the political assassination. Didn't hear much about thoughts or prayers, though.

Way up high on the capital building, there were two flags on the wall where they could not be easily reached or defaced. One was a "Trump" flag, and the other said "We took America back."

Back to the dark ages....

As we stood in front of the capitol building with our signs, I noticed some who looked like they worked there passing by and looking at my sign. I could see from the expression on their faces that it gave them pause to think, in agreement.
