in it. Hopefully whatever training/education one gets will increase one's odds of survival/not being injured but that emotional/psychological kick in the gut one gets doesn't go away all that easy, if at all. It's traumatizing, and it sometimes sticks with a person for life.

Guns have always been available, but when I was a child I never feared going to school wondering if today would be the day when some twisted person decided to open fire. It's still unthinkable to me that anyone would even think to do such a thing, but here we are.

Something has changed - our society today harbors a sickness that was either not present yesteryear, or at least was better controlled. People weren't so brazen - they didn't brag and boast about what they could get away with. People today make videos and post them on social media. I mean WTF?? Something is really fundamentally wrong.

We need to get to the cause - I understand why people want guns to be eliminated, but the reality is the sickness will go merrily on if its not addressed. And if one is determined, one doesn't need a gun to kill. Heck, you can make a bomb out of items that are easily bought in stores.

We need to get at the root cause and address it. It's a horror. I'm sorry your family had this terrible experience!
