This was the craziest day imaginable! It took 2+ hours to get here in the early part of the blizzard, instead of 1 hr 15 min.
We were a 45 minutes early for check in prep. They took me right in because some surgeries were canceled for various reasons, so there were a few prep rooms available.
Surgery was supposed to begin at 1:30 pm.and take 6 hours if all went as planned.
BUT, I had to wait until 4:35 pm before previous surgery finished because that patient had serious complications of some kind.
Then, they take me into operating room around 4:45pm, do the drug cocktails to wipe me out and insert the throat tube thingie.
I'm out cold and then wake up in the recovery room, asking what time it is. The neurosurgeon says, you aren't gonna believe how fast this was. It’s 5:12 pm. Say HUH?? Then she chuckled and said, "sorry, we had to postpone because no sooner did you fall asleep, some chucklehead took down a pole that hit the hospital. So we are on generator power and I decided that it wasn't safe to open you up without another backup generator, just in case."
So, I'm upstairs, admitted, and having it done at 7 am tomorrow, er today.
Boy did I pig out when she gave me the go ahead for food! So starving! Now SOOOO FULL!
So many accidents during this storm and admissions from injuries that the hospital is full so had to wait a few hours for my room assignment . Because some dingdong reserved the ICU for me and I couldn't go there not even have had the surgery yet.
I'm loopy as all get out from the morphine keeping the pain at bay since I can't have my usual meds because of the surgery coming too close and increasing bleeding risk. Don't want another hemorrhage happening this time!!
Sooo, I hope everyone had a decent day and didnt get too much snow if you're in its path!
