I made calls to the nearby shops that I could limp it along with minimal risk of further damage and no tow fees. I had already purchased some of the parts needed and tried to see about installation to save a few bucks. One reputable shop quoted me a price more than what my vehicle is worth. with my part or theirs. They honestly told me they would charge me higher labor to use my parts because they make money on their parts too. I tried to figure out a way to come up with it and justify it.
I had to wait an hour before I could call a different one that a neighbor recommended. This quote was less than half. The owner explained he knows times are tough for everyone. He still makes money on everything he is just not greedy on mark ups like the bigger shops. He keeps customers and word of mouth gets more people there too.
When I brought it and he saw it is a wheelchair accessible van and I mentioned how we had to use and pay a service the last couple weeks to get wheelchair repairs and adjustments for my sons chair he waived the debit card fee in the end. New Suspension in the front end in about 4 hrs turnaround. I was prepared to wait the weekend.
I got an immediate charge back when I returned the parts too!
My 20 yr old rust bucket has a smooth ride again.
I now have a guy when I can't be the guy. 🥳
A Jack of all trades is master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.![]()
